Call for contributions


The iPRES 2017 hosted by Kyoto University will contribute to promotion of researches and development of technologies and services of digital preservation. Like previous iPRES conferences, iPRES 2017 will serve as an international forum for the global community of digital preservation, and, in particular, it will contribute to Japanese and Asian communities of digital preservation.

The main objectives at iPRES 2017 will be cultural resources in various domains and from various viewpoints. Academic societies in the areas of digital humanities and information resource management are the main communities to support this conference in Japan. This conference will be organized in collaboration with major memory institutions in Japan.

Kyoto University has strong relationships with Asian countries through their area research activities, which will add new features to the iPRES conference series.

The theme of the coming conference is : Keeping Cultural Diversity for the Future in the Digital Space — From Pop Culture to Scholarly Information.

Earth Observation Open Science 2017 Conference

The European Space Agency (ESA) is organizing the 3d consultation meeting of EO Open Science in ESRIN (Frascati, Italy) on 25–28 September 2017 to explore new challenges and opportunities for EO research created by the rapid advances in Information and Communications Technologies (ICT). This includes open tools and software, data-intensive science, virtual research environment, citizen science and crowdsourcing, advanced visualization, e-learning and education of the new generation of EO and Data scientists. The conference will present activities in EO Open Science and Innovation and develop a Roadmap for future ESA exploitation activities under the EO Science for society programme.

Open Science Evening Talks - From September 25th to September 28th at 6pm Registration (for logistical reasons)

This free event will take place in the Rolex Learning Center from Monday 25th to Thursday 28th September at 6pm on the EPFL Campus (Rolex Learning Center). Following the programme of the Open Science Summer School, each day will focus on a specific aspect of Open Science : landscape, publications, research data, code and tools.

The main goal is to encourage a constructive thinking and stimulate discussions about Open Science, offering every evening two or three short public talks followed by an aperitif, to allow participants exchange in an informal and convivial context.

The event is open to EPFL community, as well as all those who would like to learn more about Open Science, getting an overview of its main stakes and the related evolution of academic research.

Some of the main specialists in the Open Science field will participate in this event.
